Red Tantra Sexual Rituals

After basic rituals have been performed, Red Tantra followers can partner with another follower and combine their Kundalini energies in a period of intense sexual connection, which may last for hours.

It is through sexual rites that Tantrikas identify with the god and goddess while engaging in Tantric sex. Tantra states that sex has three purposes: procreation, pleasure and liberation. Liberation and transcendence is made possible through meditational practices and Tantric sex techniques. It is not traditional sex; orgasm is avoided in favor of enhanced mental and physical stimulation.

The sexual act is intended to balance energies in both bodies. The act climaxes in “Samadhi”, where both partners dissolve into single-minded cosmic consciousness. There are several sexual rituals which are practiced during this stage, and preparation is essential. There are also purification ceremonies that precede the action.

Preparation for Red Tantra rites include:

Set Up: This involves setting aside time for practice. It’s quite common for Tantrikas to set aside four hours for one sexual rite. Preparation also involves creating a safe space by using incense, candles or oils. The room should be kept warm and finger foods should be kept close by in case a partner becomes hungry.
